YOU MAY HAVE READ MY RECENT STORY ON GOV. JOSH SHAPIRO’S RECORD AND GOVERNING IDEOLOGY — reported with my colleague Angela Couloumbis and published by NOTUS. I’ll let its conclusions stand for themselves (though I’m very open to pushback!).

For that story, I chatted with Marshall Mitchell, a suburban Philadelphia pastor and confidant of Shapiro. Mitchell is a key character in Shapiro’s recent memoir, but the pastor’s biography has many twists of its own — he’s been an advisor to Hollywood studios, a congressional chief of staff, an executive at a historically black university, and a contributor to New York’s charter school law.

We talked for close to an hour and a half, much of which was left unused in my notes. However, some of the themes Mitchell addressed — Shapiro’s communication ability, response to criticism, and ideological allegiance — deserve the light of day.
